Hackerbot
Project type
Startup
Date
May 2024 - December 2024
Location
Boulder, CO
Role
Robotics Engineer
We have created a robotics platform that circumvents the knowledge and monetary barriers of advanced robotics. Hackerbot is a robotic hardware development suite that enables users to access advanced capabilities right out of the box. Our system includes features such as advanced maneuverability, lidar mapping, computer vision, and robotic arm control systems. Plus, as an open-source platform, it empowers developers to modify, improve, and share their work, fostering innovation and collaboration within the robotics community
My contributions:
Collaborated with the founder to develop a robotic hardware suite that allows users to access sophisticated robotics capabilities immediately, bringing robotics products to market that overcome the existing financial and knowledge barriers in consumer robotics
Engineered algorithms for two time-of-flight (ToF) sensors to act in unison, creating a virtual bumper to prevent the robot from becoming stuck or tipping over, enabling autonomous operation and motion planning in diverse home environments
Utilized computer vision and motion planning to create a sentry mode that users can use upon receiving the product, reducing the barriers to entry of advanced robotics for all
Conducted in-depth research on cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and robotics, selecting the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for the production line and tailored manufacturing processes for the production of various robot models, optimizing for efficiency, consistency, and quality control
Designed, prototyped, and manufactured time-of-flight sensor mounting brackets with DFM/DFA principles in mind to maximize sensor utilization and minimize cost
Researched, designed, and built efficient low-cost manufacturing processes utilizing six sigma to deliver quality products quickly and efficiently
Solely ran and maintained two Bambu printers 24/7 to produce quality components for the first fifty units
Led HackerBot's first public demonstration to introduce the product and company to hundreds AI and robotics enthusiasts
